The garden is in full bloom and it is time once again to offer Herbal Manufacturing Workshops.

Herbal MANUFACTURING COURSES 2025

This is an opportunity to be introduced to medicinal herbs growing on a traditional ¼ acre block. A permaculture designed garden with over 50 herbs to meet, touch & taste with Sandra a professional herbalist of 38yrs.

1. Calendula & Comfrey Workshop

25th & 26th January Saturday 2.5 hrs: ideal to start with this 2024 offering to ensure your confidence with following workshops. You will need to bring a Coffee Plunger (aprox.) up to 1 litre. Try Kmart.

You will Learn: You will learn how to make a Calendula/Comfrey cold oil infusion and discussion on hot oil infusion. What are the best oils to infuse your plant material. How to ensure your cold oil infusion does not grow mold. Learn about quality production & shelf life so your oils do not go rancid during the manufacturing process

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1pm Cost: $100 Limited to 8 participants

10 to 10.30am: INFUSED OIL: Meet and greet Calendula/Comfrey. Learn about identification and the many, many uses of this herb you and your family.

10.30 – 10.40am: Morning Tea (approx..)

10.40 – 10.50am: Introduction to Calendula/Comfrey cold infused oil production

Learn the tips and tricks for having a foolproof medicinal grade infused oil

Discussion on hot oil production.

11- 12.30am: BALM: Demonstration by Sandra & participant manufacture of Calendula or Comfrey Balm that is smooth and medicinal. Possible incorporation of Essential Oils.

Cost includes all ingredients for Infused Oil of Calendula or Comfrey for Balm production plus morning Tea and healthy, homemade walnut biscuits (from the Walnut tree at front of house) and a divine herbal tea from fresh herbs in garden with a hint of honey.

2. Herbal MEDICINAL TINCTURE WORKSHOP 2025

8th & 9th February 3 – 4hrs: Herbal Tincture production. Traditional & Modern

These tinctures can be utilised in many ways ie. As a medicine, within creams or balms & within toothpaste. (view later workshops). This is an excellent way to store for future use.

Your choice of herbs from garden for making the fresh plant tincture of your choice from the medicinal garden. Here are some examples.

1. Relaxant with Scullcap & Lemon Balm.

2. General tonic medicine. ie.lungs, skin - Mullein & Thyme

3. Healing external & internally medicine. Comfrey Lf, Plantain & St. Johns Wort

What is a herbal tincture? A potent medicine from fresh plants, given in drop dosing or by the ml. for improvement and health assistance for health ailments. This is a specific process to ensure the potency and vibrant health giving properties that can be kept for many years.

Each herb has its own story, where it works in the human body and what are the safety precautions which will be explained and with the addition of notes.

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1.30-2pm Cost $120 Limited to 8 participants

10 to 10.45am: We walk in the garden, learning about identification and the use of these herbs for you & your family. Then harvest your chosen herb(s) and prepare for production.

10.45 – 11am: Morning Tea (approx...)

11- 11.30 Introduction to calculations both traditional & professional for potent family medicine. Learn how to prepare herb, and ensure no bacterial growth. Tincturing with alcohol (vodka) or Apple Cider Vinegar & Glycerin. Shelf life. Labelling. Batch book record.

11.30- 1.30pm: Demonstration by Sandra & participant manufacture with Sandra’s guidance of your medicinal tincture.

Cost includes: all ingredients for medical herbal tincture production. Herbs, ACV & alcohol. Plus morning Tea - Healthy, homemade biscuits and a divine herbal tea from fresh herbs in garden with a hint of local honey.

You Take Home: Notes, Tinctures & knowledge. Labels

Required: Please buy a Moccona Coffee Jar from your home to prepare and take home you medicinal tincture. Often found at tips and 2nd hand stores.

3. FIRST AID - Herbal & Homeopathic

22ND & 23RD February 2.5 hrs:

Herbs: You will be taught how to utilise fresh & dried for basic first aid ie. minor cuts, burns, stomach issues and stress.

Homeopathic: Focusing on three – four useful homeopathic for everyday issues and introducing how to do basic manufacture. (ie potentise)

You will Learn: Sandra will talk on basic first aid with herbs & homeopathics for preparation and usage.

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1pm Cost: $180 Limited to 8 participants

10 to 11am:

Herbs: Meet and greet plants that will be the best choice for particular issues. Learn about identification and the many, many uses of these herbs & harvest/processing

10.30 – 10.40am: Morning Tea (approx..)

11- 12.30am: Homeopathics: introducing 3 – 4 homeopathics for minor issues.

What is a homeopathic? How do they work? How to use ie. dosing etc. How to Potentise for future use. Correct storage.

Cost includes all ingredients plus demonstrations on how to utilise herbs, ie. direct usage, stupes, poultices, plus morning Tea - healthy, homemade walnut biscuits (from the Walnut tree at front of house) or Tahini Biscuits and a divine herbal tea from fresh herbs in garden with a hint of honey.

You Take Home: Notes & knowledge. Herb/seed of choice to grow in your garden for future use. 1 x Homeopathic for home usage. Labelling information

4. Herbal MEDICINAL CREAM WORKSHOP 2025

8TH & 9TH March:

This is your introduction to a Medicinal Cream.

• With or without essential oils.

• The cream will feature Raw Cacao Butter.

• Which Infused Oils & tinctures to use.

• Options to make:

• 1. Muscle Fatigue & Pain cream.

• 2. Antibacterial cream.

• Correct use of Essential oils.

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1.30-2pm Cost $160 Limited to 8 participants.

10 to 10.30am: We walk in the garden learning about identification and the use of these herbs for you & your family within a cream for a medicinal quality product. Choice of two types of medicinal creams to manufacture.

10.30– 10.50am: Morning Tea (approx..)

11am- 2pm: Demonstration by Sandra & then participant manufacture with assistance by Sandra for your medicinal cream production.

Lunch will be about 1pm.

Cost includes: All ingredients. Essential oils

Plus morning Tea - Healthy, homemade biscuits and a divine herbal tea from fresh herbs in garden with a hint of local honey.

5. Herbal SKIN BEAUTY CREAM/LOTION WORKSHOP 2025

22nd & 23rd March:

This is your introduction to a Beauty Lotion/ Facial Moisturizing Cream.

• With or without essential oils.

• The cream will feature Raw Cacao Butter.

• Which Infused Oils & tinctures to use.

• Choice of: 1. Facial Moisturiser. 2. Body Lotion.

• Correct use of Essential oils.

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1.30-2pm Cost $160 Limited to 8 participants.

10 to 10.30am: We walk in the garden learning about identification and the use of these herbs for you & your family within a cream for a medicinal quality product. Choice of two types of medicinal creams to manufacture.

10.30– 10.50am: Morning Tea (approx..)

11am- 2pm: Demonstration by Sandra & then participant manufacture with assistance by Sandra for your medicinal cream production.

6. Herbal MEDICINAL CREAM WORKSHOP 2025

For those who have learned how to make a tincture. Prerequisite

5th & 6th April: Medicinal Herb Plaster & Facial Cleanser

The Herbal Plaster is a traditional way of applying herbs fresh/dried as a healing medium. Stories of use from my Clinical Experience.

Herbs utilised are easily found & harvested. Excellent for minor first aid requirements and highly effective.

The cleanser removes the need for harsh soap or chemicals that are in all purchased cleansers. Use as a facial cleanser to lightly exfoliate skin for that dewy shine (also on armpits). Or, utilise as a mask to draw out impurities and excellent for teenagers who are prone to acne.

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 2.30 - 3pm Cost $150

10 to 10.15am: Discussion on Herb Plaster & Facial Cleanser & variations.

10.15– 10.30am: Morning Tea

10.30- 11.am: Production of Herbal Plaster - Sandra demonstrating.

11am- 11.45pm: Participant manufacture with Sandra’s assistance.

12noon – 12.30pm: Lunch – please bring your own

12.30 – 1pm: Production of Facial Cleanser - Sandra demonstrating

7. ADVANCED BALM Herbal WORKSHOP 2025

You will Learn: You have learnt how to make a Calendula/Comfrey cold oil infusion and a balm. The next step is medicinal balms, to empower participants with advanced techniques to create medicinal balms tailored to specific therapeutic needs, understanding deeper herbal properties, formulation safety, and synergistic blending. Learning how to add tinctures and essential oils for a medicinal quality balm. Chest Balm, Joint Balm, Burn Balm, Soothing Balm to name just a few.

19th & 20th April - 3 hrs

Start & Finish times: 10.00am to 1pm Cost: $130 Limited to 8 participants

10 to 10.30am: Herb Profiles: Discuss the medicinal properties of useful herbs like comfrey, calendula, plantain, arnica, St. John’s wort, ginger and cayenne.

• Synergistic Blending: How to combine herbs for enhanced therapeutic effects (e.g., pain relief, anti-inflammatory, skin healing).

• Safety Considerations: Dosages, contraindications, and safety for different populations (children, pregnant women, etc.).

10.30 – 10.40am: Morning Tea (approx..)

10.40 – 10.50am: Participants create their own choice of medicinal balm:

• Pain relief balm with cayenne, arnica, and peppermint.

• Healing skin balm with calendula, chickweed or comfrey, plantain and lavender.

• Respiratory balm with eucalyptus, thyme & ginger & cayenne

• Guidance on troubleshooting common challenges (grainy texture, uneven consistency).

11- 12.30am: BALM PRODUCTION: Demonstration by Sandra & participant manufacture of Balm that is smooth and medicinal. Possible incorporation of Essential Oils.

Packaging and Preservation Tips for proper storage and extending shelf life (natural preservatives like vitamin E or rosemary antioxidant). Creating professional-grade packaging: jars, labels.
